Minutes of Meeting

The 2nd Transnational meeting – Galway, Ireland

The 2nd Transnational meeting was organised by the Irish partners from the Galway Technical Institute (GTI), Ireland, between 19th and 21th April 2012

The venue for the meeting was the Galway Chamber of Commerce Offices, Merchants Road, Galway.

Attendees:

  • Denmark – Anny Willemoes and Lone Steimle 
  • Greece - Pavlos Kokkinakis and Vivi Vassala
  • Ireland - Jim Brick, Emmaneulle Regan and Alison Ward
  • Romania - Liliana Rujanu, Anca Dimitriu and Lidia Andronache
  • Spain - Juan Francisco Rodriguez Baez 
  • UK - Marianne Green and Louise Machin   (Apologies from Keith Turner - flights booked but required at emergency meeting)

  • All partners were welcomed by Jim Brick - GTI representative and Alison Ward - Deputy Principal.
  • Each partner presented findings from the survey.  Total questionnaires completed – 336.
  • 3 partners used Survey monkey to complete and 3 used paper-based questionnaires.

  • The results were discussed by all partners and the summary results showed that parents would like their children to develop further Interpersonal, Interpersonal, Linguistic and Logical/Mathematical Intelligences
  • Presentation-marketing material was presented also by the partners (brochures / leaflets / websites)
  • Development of the project and evaluation processes was discussed (meetings-activities-outcomes) and agreed. 
  • All documents will be uploaded in our File in Google .docs. 
  • A draft plan of the educational package/toolbox for parents was made 
  • All partners will contribute to the production of new original material.  
  • Discussion of the following ideas by all partners on what the final outcome/product of the project should include:
    • Find new ways to involve parents with their children's development
    • Produce a mini guide for parents to support children's emotional intelligence
    • Produce guide to develop different skills with a number of different worksheets
    • Give ideas of what parents could do with their children to encourage further development in the different skills and competences
    • Produce approx. 40 worksheets in total with an attractive front end
    • Produce some interactive activities to accommodate different learning styles 
    • Whatever is produced should complement what happens in the classroom
    • Parents need to be convinced that the toolbox/product is of value and is flexible 
    • It should support children’s free play and engage parents in different age groups 
    • It should be of value to parent organisations 
  • Mobilities of learners and staff discussed.   
  • Dates of next meeting in Gran Canaria were discussed and it was agreed to change the date to accommodate all partners.  (Travel: 27th June, Meeting: 28th & 29th June). 
  • It was recommended, but not yet agreed, that the UK meeting should also be changed to take place end of Nov.   Partners to confirm with the coordinator if November is acceptable. All partners need to inform their National agency of any changes to the original contract. 
  • Training was provided on the use of  GoogleDocs by the UK Partner

Actions:

  • All partners to present at the next meeting activities completed since the project  started - (10 points) 
  • Galway team to send the coordinator a brief linking the fashion show to the project
  • All partners to confirm the number of mobilities attending the 3rd meeting with Spanish partner
  • Co-ordinator to forward partners  an example of the Product front cover and worksheet by 4th May
  • Each partner to research content for their allocated MI and send to coordinator by end of May 2012
